Sunday, March 14 is mid-lent, commonly known in the anglican communion as “Mothering Sunday”. During the sixteenth century, people returned to their mother church for services held on Laetare Sunday (Lent IV). The “mother church” was either a large local church or, more often, the nearest Cathedral.
Trinity Cathedral will honor this tradition with a service of Choral Evensong at 4:00 pm followed by a reception in the Olney Gallery. The Cathedral Choir will sing works of Wesley and Smith. The Dean of the Cathedral will officiate. A reception will follow immediately in the Gallery.
