Stewardship 2024: What is God calling me to give?

Dear Friends,

Every day we witness how much God loves us. All that we have is given by a God who desires our greatest good.

This is the time when the people of Trinity begin identifying how our resources are offered to God in a way that not only connects us with the Divine, but also with one another and our wider community.

Each of us is being asked to offer to God a percentage of our resources as a thanksgiving for all that God has done.

Pray with the scriptures here. Listen to the stories you will hear in church. Ask yourself, “What is God calling me to give?”

In Christ’s peace and love,

Troy Mendez
Dean

2 Corinthians 9:7-9

So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for this bountiful gift that you have promised, so that it may be ready as a bountiful gift and not as an extortion.

The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not regretfully or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. As it is written,

“He scatters abroad; he gives to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.”

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us, for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God.

Matthew 6:19-21

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Mark 12:41-44

He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

Stewardship Reflections

We have asked members of the congregation to share their own reflections during this time of consideration of what God is calling each one of us to give for the coming year.

Each Sunday, someone will stand at the lectern and say a few words, in hopes that it provokes introspection and reflection in this season.
