Trinity Cathedral welcomes you to a unique opportunity to paint/write an icon in one of the traditional styles of egg tempera during July.

Hellen Dayton, (Master of Fine Arts,  PhD in Art History, Master of Divinity and PhD in Ecclesiastical Sciences (Theology of Spirituality)), has a long history of studying, writing, and teaching iconography around the world: from her first studies in Russia at Penza Art College in the 1980’s, to the Moscow Surikov Academic Art University and St. Petersburg Repin Academic Art University, through archaeological excavations in Moscow, Cyprus & Greece, to conserving and preserving Greek icons and frescos in the 1990’s! She immigrated in 2000 and graduated from Harvard Divinity School and later started to teach icon creation and theology while studying at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Italy.

This course will be 7-10 days, depending on complexity and pacing of the project of a particular student. Students will be allowed to create the icon of their choice in conversation with Dr. Dayton. Upon registration, you will schedule your consultation to discuss your project and the needed supply list for the icon. Click HERE for registration for this once-in-a-lifetime endeavor!
