SERVE THE WORLD

We believe part of our Christian discipleship is to love and serve the world in Christ’s name. We do that in several ways:

The RE-HumanizationProject

In January of 2025, the Trinity congregation started dreaming of ways to combat what appears to be widespread DeHumanization of various people and groups. How could we make a difference in a troubled time?

Enter the RE-Humanization Project. Through conversation, connection, and our Christian discipleship, we’ve found our way into three approaches:

  1. Direct support for those who are in need. That can look like supporting our local foodbank, NourishPHX, helping do errands for those who are housebound for various reasons, and sharing our financial resources directly when we can.
  2. Faith-filled responses. Engaging in prayer together for those with whom we disagree, hosting a Prayer Vigil for our Nation to help us gain courage to engage the challenges of our time, and learning how to tell our faith stories so our faithful witness is part of the conversation.
  3. Making Our Voices Heard. Attending protests that we’re passionate about, teaching about how to call legislators, and perhaps eventually helping promote Humanizing actions at a legislative level.

NourishPHX

Trinity Cathedral helped found and has supported NourishPHX since its beginnings. NourishPHX provides clothing, toiletries, food and other necessities to those who would fall under the category of the working poor who just need a little extra help to make ends meet. They also offer educational classes, employment assistance, budgeting, nutrition and more.

There are collection bins behind the staircase in the Olney Gallery where we collect your donations of clothing, canned goods, and other items Nourish tells us are in high demand. We do this on an ongoing basis, so whenever you have extra to share, we will happily receive it.

Here is a video with details on our long partnership together:

Garfield Schools

Trinity has also had a longstanding partnership with Garfield Elementary School, a Title 1 school a few blocks down Roosevelt Street. Every summer we collect backpacks full of school supplies for the students to start the year with everything they need, provide gift cards and other support for the staff throughout the year, and have helped to support their food pantry, and the garden at the school that grow much of the veggies that the students eat in the cafeteria.

Heat Relief

Trinity is an active participant in the Maricopa Association of Governments’ heat relief plan. We have served as a water distribution site for a number of years, offering bottled water to any who come to our door seeking help to deal with our deadly summer heat.

During the hottest months, we can go through multiple cases of water each day, and even during winter many still come seeking relief from the elements so we are always accepting donations of bottled water to distribute.

Andre House

Trinity members volunteer to serve dinner to hundreds of those experiencing homelessness during the week. Some serve weekly while others choose to serve once per month. We have a group account set up through Andre House’s volunteer portal, which you can access by clicking here.

Hope4Phx Dinners

We are proud to partner with Hope4Phx, which uses our kitchen to serve more than 100 of our unhoused neighbors each Sunday. We take seriously the responsibilities that come with being a downtown cathedral, and this partnership has allowed for us to serve those who live in and around our campus on a weekly basis. We provide sandwiches for the program to hand out so those who come for dinner also get an extra meal to take with them.

Blood Drive

Trinity has hosted a number of blood drives throughout its history, both in Atwood Hall and having a donation bus parked on our campus. If you are interested in helping to coordinate a future blood drive at Trinity, please get in touch with the office: office@trinitycathedral.com.
