Phoenix, the Super Bowl, and the Cathedral

With Super Bowl LVII coming to Glendale on February 12, 2023, there will be a lot going on across the Valley as Arizona plays host to the National Football League’s championship game.

In downtown Phoenix in and around the Cathedral, the Super Bowl Experience will be split between two locations: Hance Park to our north and the Phoenix Convention Center to our south.

This will mean several thousand people are expected in and around our campus starting the weekend of February 4th through Super Bowl Sunday on the 12th.

We have not been told any of the main routes to the Cathedral will be closed (7th Street, Roosevelt, McDowell, Central Avenue, or 7th Avenue), but please be aware of the increased traffic and allow extra time getting to the Cathedral during the first two weeks of February.

We and our neighbors at the apartment building will have additional security measures in place for the next two weeks to ensure plenty of parking for our events, including First Friday and our Sunday services.

  • We have contracted with a valet service for our east parking lot (across from the light rail station) starting Thursday, February 2nd. Parking will be free for Trinity members, simply tell the attendant you are coming to visit the Cathedral. We will also have this valet on February 3rd for First Friday and Thursday, February 9th through Sunday, February 12th.
  • Roosevelt Square, which includes the apartment building to our north, has informed us they will be restricting access to the upper levels of the parking garage each of the next two weekends by using a valet service. The valet will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 5th and Noon on Sunday, February 12th. These start times mean most of our services should not be impacted by this change, and we have made parking passes that will be available starting on Sunday, February 5th to allow a two-hour parking validation should you need to be at the Cathedral while the valet is in place. During the time the valet is in the garage, the southern approach from our alley will be exit only, so anyone who wishes to enter the garage must do so from Portland Street to the north.
